Canadians at the 2011 World Duathlon Championships

Field and Zaharova win age group crowns.

Canada’s top duathletes took part in the World Duathlon Championships in Gijón, Spain and many posted top performances.

The team was lead by the World Championship title wins from David Field of Barry’s Bay, and Tatjana Zaharova of Etobicoke, Ontario. Competitors raced four 2.5 km laps of the run (10 km), two 19.2 km circuit on the bike (38.4 km), and one 2.5 km lap on run to finish.

Waterloo’s Ron Vankoughnett won the silver medal in the Sprint Duathlon event. He and his fellow competitors completed two 2.5 km laps of the run (5 km), one 19.2 km circuit on the bike, and one 2.5 km lap on run to finish.
