Canadian Tyler Mislawchuk drew a wild card for the upcoming T100 Triathlon World Tour in Singapore April 5-6. It will be another new distance for Mislawchuk who raced his first middle distance event earlier this year with a win at Ironman 70.3 Pucon in Chile, January 12.

The previously short course athlete commented on the announcement by joking on Instagram that it was “time for some 50 hour training weeks.”

Mislawchuk’s wild card brought the total in the men’s field to 19. The final spot went to Great Britain’s Max Stapley, who was also awarded a wild card. The countdown is on for the first race in the PTO series. It’s expected to be a big showdown with many of triathlon’s top men and women in what is the PTO’s second T100 Triathlon World Tour.

Stacked field promises tight competition

Mislawchuk, in his T100 debut will be up against some serious talent. The men’s field is stacked with last year’s winner Marten Van Riel from Belgium and his countryman Jelle Geens. New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde always puts up a good fight and will be without his usual sidekick, Great Britain’s Alex Yee this time, as Yee skips the race to focus on the London Marathon.

Frances’ Léo Bergère and Vincent Luis are always in the mix upfront, and fans will be anxious to see how American Morgan Pearson fairs with his current run fitness sure to impress.

Women’s field loses a competitor

News of female athlete Emma Pallant-Browne’s pregnancy has shaken up the women’s field. The British athlete is contracted for the 2025 T100 series, but will be stepping aside.

There will be no shortage of action on the women’s side with American Taylor Knibb, Australian Ashleigh Gentle and Switzerland’s Julie Derron in the top three rankings. The competition doesn’t end there, with legends like Flora Duffy and Lucy Charles-Barclay, Taylor Spivey and India Lee also taking the start line. It’s the first race of the season for many of the pros and will provide a peak into their current fitness.

With so much talent on the line in the men and women’s fields all bets are off on a sure thing.
