Canadian National Triathlon Championships

Kelowna Apple Triathlon hosts this weekend.

It will be a very busy weekend of racing in Kelowna. The Kelowna Apple Triathlon hosts the Canadian National Triathlon Championships for the categories of Sprint, Olympic, Paratriathlon, Junior, Under 23, and Elite, along with the ITU Pan American Premium Cup, the Western Canadian Kids of Steel Youth Championships and the FINA Open Water Swims. All Olympic and Sprint distance competitors will vie for qualifying slots for the 2011 Triathlon World Championships in Beijing.

Headlining the Elite field are Victoria’s Simon Whitfield and rising star Paula Findlay of Edmonton. More than 1750 athletes and 900 volunteers will make this years Apple Triathlon the largest in it’s history. The agenda for the weekend’s events is below:


Friday, August 20:

Aquathon

FINA 1.5 km Open Water Swim


Saturday, August 21:

Try-a-Tri (for Novices and First Timers ages 19 +)

KOS Youth (ages 8 to 19)

Junior Elite Sprint (ages 16 to 19)

FINA Open Water Swim 5km


Sunday, August 22:

Sprint (Adult Age Groupers & AWAD) and Olympic (Adult Age Groupers, Relay & AWAD)

Business Challenge Sprint Relay
