British Columbia’s triathletes continued to show their supremacy in the team competition

British Columbia’s triathletes continued to show their supremacy in the team competition at the Canada Games as both the women’s and men’s teams won gold. The team competition consists of a relay where each athlete swims 300 m, bikes 7 km, and runs 2 km, then tags off to the next team member until all three finish. The team of Alison Hooper, Christine Ridenour and Kyla Coates articleed a winning time of 1:09:35. Manitoba’s Sarah-Anne Brault, Rachael Edwards and Stevie Moore won silver (1:10:12) while Ontario’s Joanna Brown, Dorelle Hinton and Dominika Jamnicky snatched bronze (1:11:00). In fourth was Quebec (1:13:42) and Alberta was fifth (1:14:09). The B.C. men’s team followed the lead of the women and won gold as well. Matt Sharpe, Cole Stewart, and Jeff Phillips clocked a winning time of 1:04:09. Ontario’s Ian Donald, Connor Hammond and Tristan Woodfine won the silver medal (1:05:20), and Josh Drad, Riley MacCharles and Mark Okany won bronze for Manitoba (1:06:25). Nova Scotia (1:07:08) and Alberta (1:08:23) finished fourth and fifth.
