Bozzone and Hauschildt win Ironman 70.3 Mandurah
New Zealand’s Terenzo Bozzone led the swim (21:15) at Ironman 70.3 Mandurah, but surrendered the lead to Australia’s Tim Berkel by just two seconds after the completion of the bike. After a quick T2, Bozzone held a slim 9 second margin over Berkel at the start of the run and he then ran a race best 1:15:52 half marathon to take the overall victory in 3:42:59.

Australia’s Melissa Hauschildt came from behind after a 23:39 swim, to take charge of the race with a 2:14:23 bike, which gave her a 1:55 lead over fellow Aussie Annabel Luxford by the time she left T2. Hauschildt then closed with another top women’s split of 1:22:49 on the run to claim the Ironman 70.3 Mandurah win in 4:03:46. Victoria’s Melanie McQuaid finished fifth in 4:20:08.
