Bennett and Kemper win ITU Buffalo

Letourneau and Yorke lead the way for Canada.

Americans Laura Bennett and Hunter Kemper were crowned champions at the ITU Pan American Cup Championships in Buffalo, New York.

Bennett ran away from Great Britain’s Helen Jenkins to finish six second ahead for the win in 1:59:37. American Gwen Jorgensen ran through the field with the top run of 36:03 to get third (2:03:49). Canada’s Manon Letourneau finished tenth (2:08:04), Dorelle Hinton 12^th (2:08:47), Angela Quick 14^th (2:12:09), and Isabelle Rouleau 16^th (2:15:58).

Like Bennett, Kemper also outran (31:50) his closest pursuers out of T2 to win his seventh US National title in 1:48:24. Great Britain’s Ritchie Nicholls (1:49:05), the USA’s Kaleb VanOrt (1:49:17), and Canada’s Andrew Yorke CAN 1:49:25 all ran sub-32 minutes (the only racers in addition to Kemper to do so) to claim second to fourth spots respectively. Canada’s Matthew Sharpe crossed the line in 12^th (1:51:54), Matt Vierula 13^th (1:52:03), and Yanik Leduc 14^th (1:52:13).
