Bechtel and Quick win Ontario Olympic Distance Titles

Caledon’s Sean Bechtel and St. George’s Angela Quick were crowned the Ontario Olympic Distance Champions in Bracebridge on Sunday.

Bechtel led from start to finish to earn his overall win and title. He opened with a race leading 19:20 swim, had the fastest ride of 59:22, and ran 35:23 to post the winning time of 1:55:18. Haydon’s Jackson Laundry took second in 1:56:56, and Richmond Hill’s Andrew Bolton finished third in 1:59:38.

2. Jackson Laundry (Haydon) 1:56:56

3. Andrew Bolton (Richmond Hill) 1:59:38

4. Mikael Staer Nathan (Toronto) 2:00:03

5. Mike Greenberg (Toronto) 2:03:15

As she often does, Quick posted the top swim of 19:39 to establish a sizeable 3-minute lead over the next fastest swimmer. That margin allowed her to make use of a 1:09:09 bike, and 44:53 run to grab the title of Provincial champion in 2:15:09. Toronto’s Michelle Pearlman used a 41:08 run to finish second (2:17:01), and Aurora’s Paolina Allan posted the top ride of 1:08:51 which allowed her to claim third in 2:18:35.
