Andrew Starykowicz hit by van during training ride


According to a Twitter post this morning, Multi-time Ironman champion and uber cyclist Andrew Starykowicz was struck by a van during a training ride on Saturday but as of today has been released from the hospital after suffering multiple injuries. Starykowicz resides in the Chicago area.
Andrew was struck & dragged under a truck during a ride. He was hospitalized & his injuries are being evaluated. Keep him in your prayers.

Starykowicz, a 10-time Ironman Champion and America’s current fastest full distance triathlete, is known to be one of the fastest cyclists in the sport. He hold multiple bike course records across the half and full distance. Though he took the win at Ironman 70.3 New Orleans earlier this year, he’s had an unfortunate season plagued by injuries and was forced to drop out of May’s Ironman Texas, which would have been his Kona validation race.
No information has been released regarding Starykowicz’s current state and whether or not he will be able able to race anymore this season. This year, he was aiming for his second trip to Kona.
Fellow pro triathletes around the world have been wishing Starykowicz a speedy recovery.

This news comes days after it was announced that a 34-year-old age-grouper was struck and killed by a car during Ironman Boulder on Sunday.
