Alistair Brownlee runs 28:32

Brownlee hopes to run the 10 000m at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The reigning Olympic Triathlon Champion Alistair Brownlee ran 28:32.48 at a 10 000m track race late last night at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational 2013.

Brownlee finished just behind race winner Jose Antonio Uribe Marin of Mexico (28:30.80) in the second and slowest of the two 10 000m heats. Australia’s Ben St Lawrence won the first heat in 27:37.55.

Brownlee has his sights set on being selected by Great Britain to run the 10 000m at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. To do that he would need to at least run the B standard time of 28:10 – the A Standard is 27:50.
