Abu Dhabi, UAE – Olympic Medalist and two time ITU World Champion Alistair Brownlee won the 2013 Abu Dhabi International Triathlon short course race in a record time of 3:20:18. Brownlee led from the swim and had a comfortable lead on the bike until he took a wrong turn losing valuable time. He came into transition 1:30 behind Dutch triathlete Cesar Beilo but it didn’t take too long to make up the gap and take the win. Beilo took second and Russian Alexander Bryukhanov rounded off the podium.
The race distance featured a 1.5 km swim, 100 km ride, and 10 km run.
