5150 Race for Toronto?

City Council remains the roadblock. Muskoka will get one though.

A proposal for a 5150 race for the city of Toronto is on the backburner for now.

Toronto City Council is in the discussion stage on whether the race will get approval. The major stumbling block is the shutting down of Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway, and it is well known that Mayor Rob Ford is not a big fan of races such as marathons are shutting down Toronto roadways.

The race is proposed for July 22. We will keep a close eye on this story but with Ford against shutting down roads for races with thousands of people in it, it is highly unlikely that they would shut down roads for a race with 1000-2000 participants. But anything is possible. Decision to come October 24.

There does appear to be a new 5150 race for Muskoka on June 22.
