The Ironman World Champion’s Gear: Gustav Iden

The record-setting gear used by the Norwegian world champion in Kona

Last Saturday Norway’s Gustav Iden lived up to all the pre-race hype and expectations that had been laid on he and countryman Kristian Blummenfelt, winning the Ironman World Championship in record-setting time – his 7:40:24 winning time shattered the previous record of 7:51:13 set by Jan Frodeno in 2019.

In addition to the overall record, Iden flew through the marathon in 2:36:15, averaging less than six-minutes per mile as he bested the previous run course record of 2:39:45 set by Patrick Lange in 2016.

Here’s a look at the gear Iden used for his big day on the Big Island:

Iden is sponsored by Deboer and wore the Tsunami 1.0 Swimskin.

Iden wore a Santini short sleeve trisuit underneath his swim skin.
Iden rode a Giant Trinity Advance Pro (size small) with Cadex four-spoke wheels. The bike has rim brakes. Iden rode on Cadex’s new Aero 25 mm tubeless tires.
The bike is equipped with Shimano Dura Ace Di2 components – he uses Shimano pedals and the crank-based Dura Ace power meter. The Giant base bar is combined with D2Z aerobars. He wears a Giant Rivet TT helmet.
Iden recently signed with On and wore the company’s Cloudboom Echo 3 carbon-plate shoes.
Iden wore 100% Hypercraft sunglasses.
