As we’re finding ourselves turning our homes into training and health centres, triathletes looking to track detailed health stats might want to add the new smart scale from Garmin – the Index S2 – to their home-gyms. Offering new weight-tracking features, a sleek design and a high-resolution colour display, the second generation smart scale from Garmin can support up to 16 users will retail for $220.

The Index S2 tracks key biometric data including weight, weight trend, BMI, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, bone mass and body water percentage. To stop you from focusing too much on your current weight, the new weight trend feature shows your weight over 30 days as a trend chart. To let you know how much you need to hydrate, the Index S2 also shows the difference between the current and the previous weigh-in.

The scale syncs to Garmin Connect via Wi-Fi, so your weight and biometric data can be easily tracked and uploaded to your TrainingPeaks account. The Garmin Connect app allows you to view day, week, month and year graphs and trends. The Index S2 has nine months of battery life and is available in black or white.
