Giro Air Attack: An Aero helmet for all conditions

Giro's Air Attack, a new option for triathletes to stay aero in the heat.

Giro releases new Air Attack: An aero/road hybrid

Long time helmet maker Giro has released the Air Attack, a new helmet that may mean triathletes will no longer have to choose between an aero but hot TT helmets, or a regular road helmet with great ventilation but lots of drag inducing vents.

The new model has a smooth profile to offer much of the low drag performance of classic TT style helmets, while remaining practical for road use by omitting the extended tails. Six vents and the new Roc Loc® Air feature, which suspends the helmet 3mm above the wearer’s head, combined to give the Air Attack the ventilation of a more conventionally designed helmet.

The Air Attack will be offer in two versions, a base model at $200 USD and one with a magnetically attached eye shield at $240 USD, and will be available Spring of 2013, but look for it on Giro sponsored pros at this summer’s Tour de France. Look for a review of the helmet here and in upcoming issue of Triathlon Magazine Canada.
