A durable leather covering adds comfort and durability.

Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX Clincher – $100

A 320 TPI casing provides a supple, road-hugging ride for low rolling resistance and confidence during high-speed cornering. Much of this performance comes from the exposed exoskeleton grid that improves rigidity and strength without adding excess weight. This exoskeleton also does double-duty as a perfect eyewear dock allowing even recreational cyclists to mimic the look of their favourite pro peloton riders. A secure one-handed adjustment and a customizable harness system assure a perfect fit for almost any rider.

Rudy Project Genetyk – $

Sunglass lens options have not changed much in the last 40 years; athletes could choose either glass or polycarbonate lenses. Glass lenses offered excellent optics, but were heavy and fragile, which explains the development and eventual popularity of lighter and more durable polycarbonate lenses. Recently, however, a new substance has emerged that may supplant polycarbonate as the top choice for sport sunglasses. ImpactX is what Rudy Project calls the new lens material in their Genetyk glasses. Made from a cast polyurethane polymer, the lenses are lightweight, functionally unbreakable, offer excellent optics and, unlike other photochromic lenses, can adapt to changing light conditions in just a few seconds. With their lightweight fames, adjustable arms and nose piece the Genetyks are a great sunglass option for any triathlete.

Oakley Jawbone $265 – $340

We saw Lance wear his black and yellow LiveStrong version in the tour this year and the new Jawbone was a mainstay for the pros racing in Kona, too. The revolutionary SwitchLock Technology frame design allows for quick and easy lens changes, but possibly the best feature of Oakley’s latest sunglasses are the optics – the new, flatter lenses provide outstanding clarity. An assortment of frame colours and lens options are available, including polarized versions.

Giordana FR Carbon Body Clone Jacket – $395

This form fitting winter cycling jacket delivers unparalleled protection from the wind and cold without restricting movement or reach to the bars. The jacket is patterned with an on-the-bike fit ensuring a sleek and flap-free profile when riding. Three rear pockets, wrist zippers and multiple reflective highlights round out the features on this no-compromise riding jacket.

Pro RC50 HighProfile Carbon Wheelset – $2125

By bonding a ally clincher rim to a 50mm aero carbon section, PRO creates a good compromise between wind-cheating performance and stable cross-wind handling. The rims are laced with silver Sapim aero-spokes to a pair of bulletproof 24-spoke Shimano Ultegra hubs and weigh a very respectable 1975g. These fast, light and durable wheels are perfect for training or for windy race conditions.

New Balance NBx Thermal Full Zip – $

This warm and cozy jacket feels great against the skin and offers a surprising amount of warmth without compromising breathability. New Balance uses a dense fleece backed fabric on the main body panels while lighter weight material under the arms and sides minimize overheating. A sewn in ICE (In Case of Emergency) tab allows triathletes to write down important contact information that may be useful to paramedics during an emergency.  Other features include Ipod compatibility, reflective accents and thumb loops on the wrist cuffs. This is a versatile and attractive jacket perfect for running even less active endeavours.

Mizuno Breath Thermo Stretch ½ Zip – $

The innovative Breath Thermo fabric in Mizuno’s Breath Thermo Stretch ½ Zip transforms body moisture into heat providing exceptional comfort in cold conditions. The top’s stretchy, body-hugging shape layers easily under other running and cycling clothing adding versatility not often found in more conventional running gear. This is an excellent cold weather addition to any triathlete’s wardrobe.
