Since the launch of the company a few years ago, Deboer has become the premium triathlon wetsuit brand, chosen by some of the sport’s biggest names including Jan Frodeno, Kristian Blummenfelt, Gustav Iden, Chelsea Sodaro and Paula Findlay (to name just a few). Today the company officially released its latest flagship suit – the Fjord 3.0. Designed by Daniel Puissant and Alex de Boer in conjunction with Blummenfelt and Iden’s coach Olav Aleksander Bu from Santara Tech, the suit uses proprietary X-Skin neoprene technology to reduce hydrodynamic drag. The redesigned sleeves offer lots of flexibility through the shoulders, while the Propulsion Forearm helps to pull more water with each stroke.
Earlier versions of the suit were worn by Blummenfelt and Olympic medalist Nicola Spirig last year at the Sub7/ Sub8 project. The suit was refined by Frodeno and the crew at Santara Tech, a sports-tech company founded by Blummenfelt, Iden, Bu and their long-time manager Adam Acworth. Blummenfelt wore the suit to take The Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George, Utah last year.
“The Fjord 3.0 is a game-changer for triathletes,” says Frodeno. “The X-Skin technology and redesigned sleeves allow for an unparalleled level of speed and flexibility in the water, giving athletes a real advantage in their races.”
The FJORD 3.0 also features a redesigned collar to seal out water and improve comfort and durability, a Hi-Vis Ocellus pattern to improve visibility in the water, and a C8 coated, Hydrophobic Super-Stretch comfort lining. The seams on the wetsuit are hand-glued with double blind-stitched seams by only the most experienced craftsmen.
“We extensively studied scientific research papers in flow dynamics to create the most advanced surface available today,” says de Boer, co-founder of deboer wetsuits. “The Fjord 3.0 is a testament to our commitment to innovation and performance for triathletes at all levels.”
The Fjord 3.0 is now available for purchase on the deboer wetsuits website.
