AirPods Pro surges to new level of listening experience

Dramatically improved noise canceling and audio quality with second generation

With all the news that came out of the Apple Event a few weeks ago, it would be easy to overlook the release of the second generation of the AirPods Pro. The latest version of these popular ear buds take advantage of all the advancements Apple has made in chip and silicon technology over the last few years to really up the game in terms of audio quality and noise canceling capabilities. These new AirPods are able to reduce background noise almost twice as much as the previous version, while the new Adaptive Transparence technology allows you to hear what’s going on around you, but can reduce “harsh” environmental noise like sirens or construction sounds. Added to all that, the new AirPods Pro buds provide longer battery life, too.

Audio experience

Apple has upped the game with every aspect of the audio experience with the new AirPods Pro headphones. The H2 chip in the buds enables considerably improved audio quality, active noise cancellation (ANC) and that Adaptive Transparency mode.

The Active Noise Cancellation capabilities are really taken up a notch, something you’ll immediately notice on your next flight. The new AirPods Pros feel much closer to a high-end over the ear headphone than an earbud. That’s dramatically enhanced by the optimized fitting options thanks to four customizable ear tip sizes and you are ensured to get an incredible and comfortable noise cancelling experience. (You can use the Ear Tip Fit Test on your phone to ensure you’ve got the right size.)

The new audio driver delivers dramatically improved sound quality.

The new AirPods Pro buds also feature a new low-distortion audio driver, which ups the sound quality a lot. That’s even more impressive when you consider how good the sound quality was with the first generation AirPods Pro. When paired with an iPhone you can use Personalized Spatial Audio, which tunes the sound to your ears (you actually use the camera to take a photo of your ear to dial in the optimal experience). The difference is very noticeable – you will love the sound you are getting from these. The sound just feels so much richer than you’re likely used to.

The Adaptive Transparency is also a game changer, allowing you to stay in tune with the world around you, but drastically reducing the noise of a siren or jackhammer as you’re running by.

As you’re used to with AirPods or the previous generation of AirPods Pro, you get automatic switching between all your Apple devices, so it’s easy to listen to music on one device and answer a call on another.

Touch control

Another game-changer with the new AirPods Pro is the new touch control that allows you to adjust volume on the device, direct media playback and easily move between ANC or Transparency mode. You simply slide your finger up either of the buds to be able to adjust the volume, so you don’t have to worry about grabbing your phone or using your watch to either lower or raise the level.

New charging case and extended battery life

The new MagSafe Charging Case now has a built in speaker so it’s easier to locate if you misplace it. It is sweat and water resistant and has a lanyard loop. You can also have the case engraved if you so choose. You get up to six hour of listening time on a single charge with ANC turned on, which can be extended to up to 30 hours of total listening time with the charging case, again with ANC on.

As with so many of the new products launched this fall, Apple has really upped the game with this latest AirPods Pro release. If you are in the hunt for some new ear buds, these are definitely worth a look.
