The race season is coming quick. Here are five early-season triathlons you can get excited about.

Leamington Triathlon Weekend – June 8-9, 2019
The Leamington Triathlon weekend (also known as “Tomatoman”) is one of the longest standing, independent triathlons in Canada. In the past, it has attracted athletes across Ontario and some of the biggest names on the Canadian triathlon scene. In 2018, Lionel Sanders put on a show at Tomatoman. Taking place over the June 8th and 9th weekend, the Leamington triathlon includes a Kids Triathlon, Adult Try-a-Tri, Adult Do-a-Du, Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon, Open Water Swims, and 5km Run.

Triathlon Joliette – June 2, 2019
The 2019 outdoor season in Quebec gets underway at Triathlon de Joliette on June 2nd. It’s the first race of the Quebec Cup Sprint Distance Triathlon and Grand Prix Sprint Distance Series. Along with the age group, elite/U23 and junior sprint races, Triathlon Joliette has several youth races and a duathlon.

Triple Threat Triathlon – June 8-9, 2019
The Triple Threat Triathlon, held in Birds Hill Provincial Park, is celebrating 23 years of hosting the first race of the season in Manitoba. The race weekend is held over the 2nd weekend of June, and provides a variety of races for all abilities; Olympic triathlon and aquabike, Sprint triathlon, duathlon and aquabike, as well as a Try-A-Tri. Athletes begin on East Beach with a swim in the calm waters of the man-made lake, before taking on a bike course that offers some rolling hills. The race finishes off with a run in the trails surrounding the East Beach area.

Chinook Triathlon Festival – June 15, 2019
If you’re looking for an early season half triathlon, the Chinook Triathlon Festival is your race. The festival offers both a ½ Ironman and Olympic distance race (aquabike), as well as an Olympic duathlon. Held in Calgary at Midnapore Lake, you’ll enjoy the scenic course in the foothills of the Rockies, while you push your limits.

Ironman 70.3 Victoria – June 2, 2019
Ironman 70.3 Victoria is the earliest Ironman event of the season here in Canada; offering a scenic course, as well as lots of tourist options in Victoria and around the island. Its also is a great testing ground for those looking to take on Ironman Canada in Whistler, BC.
