There aren’t too many pro triathletes who are as open as Cody Beals, who burst onto the full-distance scene with a record-setting day at Ironman Mont-Tremblant in 2018, won his next Ironman in Chattanooga a few months later, then made it three-for-three with another record-setting day in Tremblant again last summer.

The Ironman World Championship, though, was a struggle for the Canadian long-distance star. We caught up with Beals for a frank chat about what happened in Kona, his challenging 2019 season and what he’s looking forward to in 2020.
