Sebastian Kienle breaks course record at Ironman Cozumel

Sebastian Kienle has closed out his 2017 season with a win at Ironman Cozumel, breaking the course record and going sub-8 hours for a total time of 7:48:11.

The German raced Island House Invitational Triathlon just last weekend where he placed seventh, and before that took fourth at the Ironman World Championship in October. He announced after Kona that he would be switching up his normal validation race for the 2018 qualification period, and added the late season Ironman to his schedule.

Kienle had a 41:36 swim, race-best 4:10 bike and 2:51 run.

He was joined on the podium by Austrian Michael Weiss and Ivan Rana, who ran an impressive 2:34 marathon.
