Famed triathlon sisters Sylvia and Patricia Puntous drew loud cheers from the crowds at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Montreal half-marathon on Sunday morning when they crossed the finish line side by side. The identical twins were once two of the most recognizable women in the sport of triathlon during Ironman’s early days, with Sylvia winning the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii twice (1983 and 1984), both times narrowly edging out Patricia who took second. On Sunday, they completed the half-marathon in identical times of 1:37:24 side by side, in matching outfits, winning the 55 to 59 age categories and placing as the 40th women overall.

The twins still regularly compete together, most recently racing the Mont-Tremblant half-marathon is August in similar fashion, clocking identical times of 1:36:52.
