Olympic athletes honoured in Ottawa by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Yesterday, more than 200 of Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes were celebrated in Ottawa for their achievements in Rio this summer. They began their day at the University of Ottawa where they interacted with members of the community and spoke with local youth and then went to the House of Commons where they were honoured by Members of Parliament including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Most of Canada’s Olympic triathletes who represented the country in Rio at the Olympic and Paralympic Games were present for the celebrations yesterday. Tyler Mislawchuk and Andrew Yorke, who comprised Canada’s men’s squad and placed 15th and 42nd respectively, attended as did two of Canada’s women who competed, Sarah-Anne Brault and Amelie Kretz (34th and 42nd). Silver medallist Stefan Daniel and Chantal Givens also attended on behalf of Canada’s four paratriathletes. Here’s a round-up of their posts from social media showcasing the day.
