Mislawchuk 11th at WTS Abu Dhabi

A bike course crash forced several competitors out of the race including Canadian Joanna Brown

Tyler Mislawchuk opened his season with a strong 11th place finish at the WTS Abu Dhabi sprint yesterday, proving that he’s back in top form heading into the 2018 season. Mislawchuk clocked 58:07 for the extremely fast and flat course that took place on the F1 race track — that included a 15:37 5K run split. South Africa’s Henri Schoeman won the race, with Mario Mola coming in second and France’s Vincent Luis rounding out the podium.

The second fastest Canadian of the day was Matthew Sharpe who took 20th place in the men’s race while 17-year-old Desiree Ridenour took 23rd in her first ever WTS race. Joanna Brown went down in a crash that took out many top competitors in the women’s race including race favourite, world champion Flora Duffy. All four Canadians are heading to the Commonwealth Games in April in Gold Coast, Australia.
