Lionel Sanders three-peats at Ironman Arizona

Sanders first to break the tape in a time of 7:54:10

Just over a month after his historic second place finish in Kona, Lionel Sanders has claimed the title for the third straight year at Ironman Arizona. Last year, the 29-year-old set the Ironman World Record on the fast and flat course. With windier conditions today, he still managed to be the only athlete to go under eight hours with a win in the time of 7:54:10.

Sanders’ splits were 51:33 for the swim, 4:12:03 for the bike and 2:47:16 for the marathon.

Canadian Brent McMahon has taken second behind Sanders, with the rest of the men coming in right now.
