Ironman Foundation supports Ecuador through relief fund

Manta, Ecuador
Manta, Ecuador

The Ironman Foundation, which supports communities where Ironman events are held worldwide, has set up a relief fund for Ecuador after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake responsible for 500 deaths in the Andean nation.

Earlier this month, the earthquake off the coast of Ecuador destroyed urban areas, homes and infrastructure along the coast. Ecuador hosts Ironman 70.3 Ecuador in Manta, located on the Pacific Ocean coast. The race attracts triathletes from around the world including top professionals. Ironman Foundation’s local team is on the ground in Manta providing basic supplies to communities in decimated areas affected by the earthquake. Triathletes around the world can provide assistance to the region through the foundation, which adds that 100% of the funds raised will go towards those in need.

Athletes can support Manta, Ecuador through the Ironman Foundation in the following ways:

  1. Purchase a “Humanitarian” t-shirt
  2. Make a direct donation to support the initiative

The Ironman Foundation has already placed a donation of US$10,000.00 directly into the Manta community and the charity is hoping that athletes around the world will help to make a greater impact in this Ironman community.
