Ironman announces postponements of Oceanside, Texas and more

It was just a matter of time, but last night Ironman announced more postponements.

It looks like Ironman 70.3 Campeche might be the one and only Ironman event to take place over the next few weeks – at this point there’s no word that event has been postponed or cancelled. Here’s a list of some of the Ironman races that were postponed last night:

Ironman 70.3 Oceanside postponed to October

Here’s the notice that appeared on the Ironman 70.3 Oceanside event page:

Based on the mandate from the California Department of Public Health in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, IRONMAN race officials in conjunction with the City of Oceanside have postponed the 2020 IRONMAN® 70.3® Oceanside triathlon originally scheduled for April 4 to future date in Oct. 2020.  Athletes that are registered for the event will receive an email with further details.

Ironman 70.3 Punta Del Este

The event site doesn’t outline a new date, but does state that the race in Uruguay will not be taking place on March 29.

We are committed to the safety and well-being of everyone in our race community. We have been following and will continue to follow the recommendations of public health agencies and local authorities. At this time, we can confirm that the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Punta del Este triathlon will not take place as planned on March 29, 2020. We will announce the new date next week as soon as possible.

Ironman 70.3 Texas

Like the race in Punta Del Este, the race set to take place in Galveston won’t be happening on April 5 – no new date has been announced.

At this time, we can confirm that the 2020 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN 70.3 Texas triathlon will not take place as planned on April 5, 2020.

Ironman 70.3 Desaru Coast

The event in Malaysia slated for April 19, along with the accompanying races, has been postponed, too.

With the latest announcement by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, we will be postponing the 2020 Desaru Coast Multisport Festival – IRONMAN 70.3 Desaru Coast, 5150 Desaru Coast, Desaru Coast Sprint Triathlon and IRONKIDS Desaru Coast to a later date.
