Eating Like a Pro: Melanie McQuaid’s Diet for a Day
My first breakfast before swimming is a nice latte and a piece of toast with almond butter or maybe a piece of homemade banana bread. I don’t like to eat much in the morning before swimming. Then I have some carb drink after and move into proper breakfast….
Today that was greek yogurt with fresh pineapple, a banana and homemade granola made with almonds, sunflower seeds, oats and coconut.
Then generally I move onto workout number two and that will be enjoyed with a few bottles of Powerbar perform and some other Powerbar products. Right now I really enjoy the Nutty Berry bars and the Acai flavour gels for training.
After that workout I was finished for the day. I had a recovery drink with a bit of protein, this time it was Powerbar Recovery mix, but it is usually something simple like that– not big just a bit to get through the post workout routine. Then it is shower, stretch and roll before lunch. Today lunch was scrambled eggs, kale salad and cornbread with a bit of mashed avocado on it.
I also drink a lot of bubbly water with fresh lemon juice from my garden in it.
Then I had a break which sometimes includes a snack. Today I skipped the snack as I only had two workouts and  could wait for dinner which was sushi night with the girls. It appears we were starving as we ordered enough for a large party.
However, we weren’t too far off because I have included a photo of the remnants, of which there were few. The dinner was seaweed salad, ahi, toro, a California roll, some weird beet dragon roll, a yam roll and tempura shrimp dynamite rolls. No snacks after dinner for me,  just more bubbly water with lemons.
