Castelli Introduces PR 3 Speed Suit for Elite Triathlon Racing

Castelli has released the latest version of its flagship triathlon race suit, the PR 3 Speed Suit, built for the demands of modern non-drafting racing across middle and long distance.

The update is the result of more than a decade of aerodynamic development, with a clear focus on how athletes actually ride and run on race day. The suit has been refined through wind tunnel work and repeated real-world testing sessions, with input from pros including Laura Philipp, Paula Findlay and Rico Bogen.

At the centre of the redesign is a new sleeve construction. The ribbed fabric is engineered to manage airflow across the upper body, reducing drag while maintaining comfort in an aero position. Every seam, texture and panel is specifically placed to deliver speed in the positions athletes actually race in.

The upper portion of the suit uses a 50-denier fabric, the lightest Castelli has used in a triathlon suit. The goal here is straightforward. Keep the athlete cool without disrupting airflow. Through the torso and legs, the fabric shifts to a woven material inspired by the Premio Evo Bibshort, offering stretch where it is needed and support over longer efforts.

The details are specific to racing conditions. A rear pocket is integrated into the design to limit airflow disruption. A separate GPS pocket allows for easy access without interfering with fit. Inside the collar, a small pocket has been added for ice, a feature aimed at hotter race environments. The KISS Tri Pad remains in place, balancing support on the bike with freedom of movement on the run.

Castelli has also introduced PR Leg Sleeves to its triathlon collection. Designed to sit securely on the calf, the sleeves are intended to smooth airflow over the lower leg, with a rear stretch panel that makes them easier to put on and remove.

Castelli Tri Division Manager Bernhard Plainer said the suit reflects how the brand approaches development.
