Ironman champions Mirinda Carfrae and Meredith Kessler are doing a virtual event this weekend to “encourage the triathlon community.”
Two of the sport’s Ironman stars will be joining forces this weekend for a “virtual triathlon celebration.” Three-time Ironman world champion Mirinda Carfrae and multiple Ironman champ Meredith Kessler will take part in the event from their respective homes in Boulder, Colorado and Columbus, Ohio.
“It’s always a pleasure to share the ‘race’ course with Meredith but more importantly in this circumstance so we can engage with our community,” says Carfrae. “I’m hoping we can inspire others to join in for as much or little of the event as they like.”
The “pre-race show” will begin at 10:30 EST, with the two super-moms starting the swim at 11. Fans will be able to spectate or participate in the event which incldes a virtual 58-mile bike and a 10-mile run.
“During this unique time, we have understandably been trying to find ways to compete and engage with other athletes and our partners,” Kessler says. “This event is our way to truly celebrate and thrive, together, with mothers and endurance enthusiasts everywhere.”
Participants in Saturday’s event “will have access to exclusive product discounts and giveaways.”
