2018 Tour de France Champion with triathlon aspirations?

Geraint Thomas may one day switch over to doing triathlons

In an interview with Triathlete.com, Cameron Wurf spilled the beans that Geraint Thomas may one day line up at a triathlon.

Wurf is a highly accomplished athlete. He rowed at the Olympics, competed at the highest level of cycling and is the current bike course record holder at Kona. Over the winter, Wurf spent time with Thomas training in Los Angeles.

Wurf made the switch to triathlons a few years ago from cycling and says Thomas may do the same in a few years. Thomas just recently won the 2018 Tour de France. When asked about his swim ability, Wurf said, “Let’s just say he still has to learn how to swim.” Imagine a Tour de France winner on the start line of a triathlon?

There are a few former triathletes in the peloton currently, most notably the Tasmanian Richie Porte. Wurf says Porte continues to swim in the cycling offseason and back when he was competing in triathlons he could run a sub 31-minute 10K.
