Getting your bike ready should go beyond just swapping your training wheels for race wheels that have been in storage since your last race.  You put a lot of time and effort into your preparation, and the last thing you want is a preventable mechanical issue to derail your race. Cleaning your bike, having race specific tires, tubes and a cassette on your race wheels, and having a race chain can take a lot of the stress out of getting your bike ready for race day (and help you go as fast as possible on the course!).
