Changing my IRONMAN running shoes

Switching from Skechers GoRun Ride 7 to GoMeb Razor 2

When it comes to equipment choices I sometimes find that I don’t see the forrest for the trees.  I can get caught up in grams and aerodynamics that I miss the bigger picture.  Shoe choice is one area that this has been evident.  My shoe choice has always been heavily influenced by weight, but the reality is that in an Ironman my time is less impacted by how fast I can run, and more impacted by how little I can slow down.  I’m not running fast during an Ironman, and if I can wear shoes that make my legs feel fresher longer, I think that will be worth a relatively small weight penalty.  I’ve tested this theory with a pair of 3-hour runs over the last two weekends and I’ve made the decision to switch to the Skechers Perfromance GoRun Ride 7 for Ironman Mont Tremblant, from the lighter and faster GoMeb Razor 2.
