Windsor’s Brooke Brown, 6th overall at Ironman Texas

She wins her age group but loses her Kona slot. Find out why.

On Saturday May 19, Windsor, Ontario’s Brooke Brown had the race of her life.

Not only did she set a personal best with a 9:47:05 clocking to finish as the sixth fastest female overall (swim 1:11:51, bike 5:08:23, run 3:21:43), she won her 30-34 age group and earned a slot for the 2012 Ironman World Championship in October.

That was the good part of this story, here comes the bad.

She missed out on claiming her Kona slot the next morning due to car failure.

Fortunately, Brooke remains upbeat. She is talented and fast enough to another spot and she hopes to do that at Ironman Mont Tremblant on August 19.

We caught up with Brooke and she told us all about her great race and about her car troubles.
