PHOTOS: Joanna Brown continues breakout season with 4th in Montreal

After a seventh place finish a week ago in Edmonton, Joanna Brown went three spots better, finishing just off the podium at the ITU World Triathlon Montreal. After a stellar swim that put her near the leaders, Brown was one of the driving forces on the bike, keeping the lead pack together and setting up a dramatic run that saw Ashleigh Gentle take her first WTS title and break Flora Duffy’s string of WTS wins after four consecutive wins this season.

Duffy would retain her lead in the WTS series thanks to a runner-up finish, while Andrea Hewitt would round out the podium, finishing one spot ahead of Brown, who passed training partner Kirsten Kasper in the last lap.

Fellow Canadian Paula Findlay missed the lead pack on the bike and struggled through the rest of the day, eventually finishing 21st.
