Weekend Ironman Recap: Reid and Beals Tops in Silverman

Taylor Reid’s sensational season continues with a big win at Ironman 70.3 Silverman in Henderson, Nevada today, followed across the line by Cody Beals to make it a one-two finish at the race which is hosted just outside of Las Vegas.

Reid runs to Silverman win

Taylor Reid was fifth off the bike, but managed to run his way to the win at Ironman 70.3 Silverman today, passing countryman Cody Beals along the way to take the title. Two-time 70.3 world champion Michael Raelert was first across the line, but was DQ’d for drafting. He continued through the race hoping to appeal the ruling.

Lauren Goss won the women’s race. Malindi Elmore was the first Canadian thanks to her 7th place finish, while Kirsten Marchant and Sue Huse were 10th and 11th.

Van Vlerken gets #7 in Barcelona

Yvonne Van Vlerken (NED) continued her Ironman winning ways with a win at Ironman Barcelona today, while Slovenia’s David Plese took his first title.  It was a fast day with Plese coming with just over two minutes of breaking the 8 hour barrier, while Eimar Mulan’s fourth in 8:56 put four women under the 9 hour mark.

Ascenco and Borges tops in Rio
Ironman 70.3 Rio de Janerio debuted today with an almost entirely home country podium – Maria Luz Poblete from Chile managed to finish third in the women’s race to spoil a perfect Brazilian medal day.
