Trull and Murray win the Iron 226 Triathlon

Held at the multiple event The Canadian in Ottawa, American Stephen Trull and Kanata’s Joanne Murray topped the podium at the featured Iron 226 Triathlon today.

Trull, who raced at Ironman Mont-Tremblant just thirteen days prior, used a race best ride and run to capture the first place title. The Burlington, Vermont native swam 1:32:34, biked 5:14:09, and ran 3:18:35 to finish first overall in 10:08:05.

In the women’s race, Murray came from behind and utilized the top run of the day to grab the win after finishing second last year. She swam 1:33:15, biked 6:30:01, and ran 4:34:05 to top all women in 12:41:55.

Bruno Sevigny (10:46:58) of Dollard-Des-Ormeaux and Louise Butt (13:37:49) of East York, won the Iron 226 Duathlon (4km run, 180km bike, and 42.2 km run).

Ottawa’s Peter Konecny (4:41:20) and Nathalie Theberge of Sorel-Tracy (5:43:41) took victories in the Iron 113 Triathlon (1.9km swim 90km bike, and 21.1km run). While Toronto’s Parichit Bagga (4:30:44) and Shipshaw’s Linda Desmeules (4:36:13) won the Iron 113 Duathlon (2km run, 90km bike, 21.1km run).
