Sanders and Spieldenner Master Muskoka

Lionel Sanders outsplit Igor Amorelli by a whopping nine minutes on the bike to lead into T2, and then cruised to an easy win at Ironman 70.3 Muskoka in Huntsville today. Amorelli, a former Ironman Brazil champion, was first out of the water in 23:00, 4:48 ahead of Sanders, but came off the bike about four minutes behind last year’s Ironman Florida champ. Amorelli would eventually pull out of the race, leaving Canadian Alex Vanderlinden to run his way to the runner-up position, followed by American Ian Boggs.

American Jennifer Spieldenner managed to hold off a late charge from Kirsty Jahn (CAN) to take the women’s title by just 40 seconds. Sue Huse (CAN) rounded out the podium.
