Simon Whitfield welcomed into Victoria Sports Hall of Fame

Simon Whitfield

Over the weekend, Canadian triathlon legend Simon Whitfield was welcomed into another Hall of Fame. The four-time Olympian and Sydney 2020 gold-medallist was honoured in his hometown of Victoria, BC at the city’s 25th annual induction class. Whitfield was joined by eight other exceptional athletes and figures on the region’s sports scene at the cold-out ceremony, which took place Saturday, October 30th.

Victoria has always been a triathlon mecca in Canada, serving as home to Triathlon Canada and the High Performance Centre and breeding several top-tier athletes on both the long course and ITU scenes such as Brent McMahon and Kirstin Sweetland.

Whitfield, who has been inducted into both the Triathlon Canada Hall of Fame and ITU Hall of Fame, continues to serve as an influential figure in the triathlon community and is currently involved with a range of philanthropic work in his community. In February of this year, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Guelph.
