Patrick Lange caught the triathlon world’s attention at this year’s Ironman World Championship when he ran a remarkable sub-2:40 marathon and broke the long-standing marathon course record set by Mark Allen in 1989.

The German athlete, who wasn’t pegged as a podium contender leading into Kona, used his running to secure third place and round out an all-German podium behind two-time winner Jan Frodeno and 2014 winner Sebastian Kienle.

Lange recently uploaded his Kona run to Strava, which allows users to view his paces per kilometres and the elevation of the entire run. According to his Strava data, which was uploaded from his Garmin Forerunner 735, Lange averaged 3:38 minutes per km which brought him to his 2:39:33 overall time.
