Canada had a strong showing at yesterday’s Ironman World Championships with four pros and many age-groupers from around the country showing up to race hard on the Big Island. Heather Wurtele earned the top Canadian finish yesterday, finishing 12th in a stacked field in the pro women’s race in a time of 9:32:51.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the top Canadian performances yesterday.

Lionel Sanders (pro) — 29th, 8:44:49

Brent McMahon (pro) — 30th, 8:45:45

Trevor Wurtele (pro) — 38th, 9:09:30

 18 – 24 Age-group

Benjamin Rudson of Nanaimo, BC placed 14th in his division with a time of 10:18:07.

Kayla Jones of Ottawa, ON placed 19th in her division with a time of 12:26:36.

25 – 29 Age-group

Scott Cooper of Montreal, QC made the podium in his division, taking third in a time of 9:07:29.

Nicole Walker of East St. Paul, Manitoba placed 7th in her division with a time of 10:14:02.

Pierre-Marc Doyon of Montreal, QC also made the top 10 in the competition 25 to 29 age-group, placing 10th in 9:22:37.

30 – 34 Age-group

Joe Maley of St. Albert, Alberta placed 12th in his division with a time of 9:21:17.

Fawn Whiting of Vancouver, BC made the podium in her division, taking third in a time of 10:04:40.

35 – 39 Age-group

Robyn Hardage of Ottawa, ON placed 6th in her age-group with a time of 10:22:09.

40 – 44 Age-group

Bryan Rusche of Toronto placed 33rd in his division with a time of 9:38:25.

Kristen Johnson of St. Catharines, ON placed fourth in her division with a time of 10:24:04

45 – 49 Age-group

Robert Shypitka of Canmore, AB placed 31st in his division with a time of 9:55:03.

Tanya Philip of Milton, ON placed 36th in her division with a time of 11:52:17

50 – 54 Age-group

Pierre Heynemand of Quebec placed 5th with a time of 9:40:25.

Kate Sebbings of Kamloops, BC placed 5th with a time of 11:20:23.

55 – 59 Age-group

Tony Frost of London, ON placed 4th with a time of 10:20:59

Jane McLeod of Windsor, ON placed 7th with a time of 12:05:01

60 – 64 Age-group

Hans Porten of Brampton, ON placed 21st in a time of 11:52:27

Arlene Turner-Ayoub of Montreal QC placed 5th with a time of 13:29:18

65 – 69 Age-group

Cullen Goodyear made the podium in her division placing second in a time of 14:40:27

Eva Alexy also cracked into the top five with a time of 15:45:31.

70 – 74 Age-group

Colm Kelly made the podium in third with a time of 13:35:11.
