Jordan Monnink made a strong statement today in Mont-Tremblant at his Ironman debut, clocking 8:51:09 and finishing 3rd overall. The Ottawa-based pro raced smart and steady and slowly chipped his way through the field on the bike and run, finishing off the day with a 3:04:58 marathon that saw him passing several pros in the field.

Monnink also had the top Canadian finish in the men’s field, behind overall winner Marino Vanhoenacker and Chris McDonald. Listen to Monnink’s post-race interview with Kevin Mackinnon in the audio above.
