Canadian pro Jenny Fletcher, who grew up in Red Deer Alberta and now lives in California, won the half distance race at Israman yesterday. On an incredible course that leads athletes on a net uphill bike course through the Desert Neguev — outside of Eilat and beside the Egyptian border — Fletcher led the women the entire way and hung up with the leading men before crushing the challenging downhill run back down to the water. We caught up with Fletcher to hear what brought her to Israel for this increasingly popular destination race and what drives her to keep competing in triathlon while also living a busy professional life as a model.
