From press release.

After last year’s debut of Challenge Šamorín, at the multifunctional x-bionic sphere resort on the Danube in Slovakia, this year the event is hosting Challenge Family’s half distance qualifier event The Championship on 3 June 2017. With the aim of expanding the reach of the event, the Challenge Šamorín team has confirmed that Sprint and Olympic distance racing will accompany the main half distance championship event.

“Since you had to qualify for this event, we decided to keep the side events open for everyone,” said Jan Mašek, Managing Director of x-bionic sphere. “If you did not qualify for The Championship, we will be more than happy to welcome you on 4 June for Sprint and Olympic distances, including an Olympic relay.”

In the Olympic relay category, each team will be composed of three people, where each athlete will compete in one discipline – swim, bike or run. Registration for the Sprint or Olympic distances closes on 28 May 2017. Around 1,200 triathletes from all around the world are expected to be present for The Championship 2017.

Mašek continued, “We want to give everyone a chance to try out the course of The Championship, where the best of the best will compete. At the same time, we will offer a rich accompanying program for families and children. We want the visitors to enjoy our beautiful x-bionic aquatic sphere with a 50m Olympic swimming pool, water slides and kids pools. Everyone will have fun during this weekend full of sports. We are looking forward to see you here.”

x-bionic sphere covers 1 million square metres and offers facilities for 27 different Olympic sports. Athletes qualify for The Championship at Challenge Family events across the globe. Athletes can still qualify at the upcoming races: Challenge Wanaka (New Zealand), Challenge Melbourne (Australia), Challenge Gran Canaria (Spain), Challenge Taiwan (Taiwan), Challenge Cerrado (Brazil), Challenge Lisboa (Portugal), Challen Gerimini (Italy) and Challenge Salou (Spain).
