Where will Ironman Canada be held in 2013?

With the city of Penticton selecting to end their relationship with Ironman and instead going forward with the Challenge Family, the hunt is on to find a new location for Ironman Canada.

The World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) stated it plans staging Ironman Canada in 2013. But where will it be?

The WTC  is accepting bids from communities up until September 24, and is expected to make a decision and announcement by October.

A number of British Columbia cities are popping up at front runners including Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Whistler, and Vernon.

I certainly hope that the WTC and the city of Penticton can sit down to talk one more time and resolve their differences.
After all, a 30 year relationship and such a unique event should not be dis-guarded lightly.  Penticton is known for their hospitality. It has a great community, a great course, and the iconic name “Ironman” means so much to so many athletes. It would be a shame to lose something that has brought so much to the athletes and the community for so many years. Perhaps the solution is to run 2 events in Penticton on 2 different dates. Perhaps Challenge 70.3 and Ironman Canada full distance? Then everybody wins.

Does it have to be BC?  What about moving it to the Muskoka 70.3 course in Ontario.

    Muskoka is the perfect location!
